Overnight stay: Istanbul
After breakfast at the hotel, we meet in the lobby and begin our full-day guided tour of Istanbul’s Historical Peninsula. This area, the heart of the city and its historic core, holds centuries of culture and power within its seven hills—starting with Sarayburnu and Sultanahmet Square.
We begin with a visit to the German Fountain, followed by the Hippodrome of Constantinople, once a grand arena for chariot races in the Byzantine era, and later known as the At Meydanı during the Ottoman period. Here we’ll see the Egyptian Obelisk, the Serpent Column from Delphi, and the Walled Obelisk.
Next, we visit the famous Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet Mosque)—the only Ottoman mosque with six minarets, known for its stunning blue İznik tiles. Its design is a harmonious blend of Byzantine and Islamic architecture, influenced by its neighbor, the Hagia Sophia.
We then continue to the Hagia Sophia Mosque and Museum, originally constructed in 537 AD. Once the world’s largest church, it stands as a marvel of Byzantine engineering and spiritual heritage.
Our final stop will be the Topkapi Palace, the political and administrative center of the Ottoman Empire for nearly 450 years. We explore its courtyards, imperial rooms, and sacred relics with detailed explanations from our guide.
After the tour, we return to the hotel.
Overnight stay: Istanbul
After breakfast, we begin a cultural and spiritual exploration of Balat, Eyüp, and Fener, three of Istanbul’s oldest and most diverse districts.
Our first stop is Balat, known for its colorful houses, narrow cobblestone streets, and rich multi-faith history. We walk through ancient neighborhoods where Jewish, Christian, and Muslim communities coexisted for centuries.
Next, we visit the Eyüp Sultan Mosque and Tomb of Abu Ayyub al-Ansari, a highly respected site in Islamic tradition. Afterward, we take the cable car up to Pierre Loti Hill, named after the French writer who once admired this view. Here, we enjoy a tea or coffee break with a panoramic view over the Golden Horn.
Our journey continues to Fener, where we visit the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople (Aya Yorgi Church)—the spiritual center of Orthodox Christianity. We then walk through the old Fener streets, passing historic landmarks such as the Kantemiroğlu Palace remains, the Sancaktar Slope, the striking red-brick Fener Greek Orthodox College, and the mystical Church of Saint Mary of the Mongols.
Our tour concludes with more time in the scenic streets of Balat, where you can photograph unique architecture and hear stories of the district’s Jewish heritage, including visits to Ahrida, Yanbol, and Çana synagogues.
We return to the hotel afterward.
Overnight stay: Istanbul
After breakfast, we cross the Bosphorus Bridge to explore the Asian side of Istanbul. Our first destination is the iconic Çamlıca Hill, one of the city’s highest points, offering panoramic views over both the European and Asian sides.
Depending on group interest, we may visit the Çamlıca Tower for a modern viewpoint experience, followed by a visit to the Grand Çamlıca Mosque, one of the largest and most magnificent mosques built in recent years.
We then drive down to Üsküdar, a charming waterfront district. Free time is given for those who wish to stroll along the promenade and enjoy views of the legendary Maiden’s Tower from afar.
Next, we visit the Tomb of Aziz Mahmud Hüdayi, a revered Sufi figure and scholar. After this peaceful stop, we return to the hotel.
Note: Guests may optionally join a 2-hour Bosphorus cruise in the morning. This activity is not included in the program price; the tour guide will provide pricing and details during the tour.
